"In his residency, Kamal was inspired by the club flyer as roadmap for the charged potential energy that can only exist under glittery gay-club darkness. He explores the simultaneous ease and self-consciousness that come with being surrounded by others with that same identity of difference. Backlit by club flyer promises, unsteady men emerge from crowded shadows to eye each other with desire and suspicion, radiate insecurity, and show each other tenderness through joyful perviness."
